it started as sone thing so beautiful - but a gown that couldn’t be reworn.
An antique 1930s liquid silk-satin wedding gown — heavy, luminous, button-backed — with torn lace and construction no longer sound. Colleema didn’t repair it. She took it apart and authored something new, working from what the gown itself asked for. No house, no era, no trend referenced. Original.
The antique silk stays at the core. The failed lace is gone. In its place: shoulders rebuilt in silk chiffon, and a Grecian line of leaf-lace tracing the collarbone. The skirt is cut high-low over a long satin-and-lace train — and the train bustles three ways, giving three lengths, three volumes, three gowns for three moments of one day.
Not a remake. Not a copy, not an antique silhouette run through a machine. Hand-built with techniques most no longer use, drawn from a single gown that exists nowhere else. One of one — and it cannot be made again.
For the bride who values where a the garment came from as much as where it’s going.
